My heart is breaking

JMMUSTANG

car wash owner
My son passed away yesterday at the age of 21 from heroin.

He was a great kid. Loved the car wash business.
Everybody loved him. He had friends from all over come in to see him. The ICU was so kind to allow everyone (2-3 people at a time) to come in to say their goodbyes yesterday. The last friend and 2 parents of a friend left the ICU at 11:00 last night.
To our surprise he had signed up to be a Organ Donor.
The lady from the Donor Association told us that he didn't sign up just once but 4 different times since he was 16.
She said that everyone at the agency said the he must have had a caring heart.
Now that heart is caring for someone else.
They said that his donations will save between 80-100 (One Hundred) lives within approximately the next 72 hours.
We were in shock. No one else in the family had signed up to donate.
So hug your kids everyday with meaning and tell them you love them.
I'm writing this with tears flooding down my face now REALLY knowing how precious our time with our children and loved ones are.

I'm sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how it feels to lose a child, I could barely handle having to put my 10 year old cat to sleep last year.

I'm sadden to hear your loss. We pray that God will bring peace and comfort to you and your family. Yes it is within these moments that we reflect how we are to treat each other especially our love ones.

There are some real words of wisdom in your post. Losing your son is a true personal tragedy but his actions in death will give life to others. Hopefully that provides you some comfort in your time of sorrow. My prayers go with you and your family.

My prayers are with you and your family. I can't imagine being in your shoes. That might be the hardest thing to face in life.
Please know that great people of all ages can fall victim to that drug. It truly is so terrible that using it as little as twice can be enough to become addicted.
What a wonderful son you had to want to be an organ donor at such a young age. You should be very proud that he will touch many lives and give life and hope to many families with his generous and precious gifts.
Stay strong and God bless.

So sorry for your loss. Heroin addiction is plague on our country right now. I read your post to my teenage sons and hope they learn something from it. God bless.
