I was once asked to testify in a robbery case (purse snatched from a customer's car) that I had given video for. The stupid kid's lawyer took one look at the crappy video that barely caught him for a few frames and changed his plea to guilty, knowing he would go to prison for a minimum of 26 years with no possibility for parole. I didn't need to testify.

Backstreet surveillance provue system is absolutely one of the best on the market right now. Lorex i find to be trash compared to Backstreet cameras. 30fps with the new provue and has two way audio system. You can get them with sd card or you can buy a external hard drive that hooks up to nvr. I would highly recommend these to carwash owners as i have the systems installed at 2 of my washs.

I just got the new provue system and have 12 cameras on this system. Bought cameras over time just guessing but under $2000. My video is crystal clear. Caught someone last night breaking in vaccum

It's better than no cameras at all, but I was rather disappointed in the system the first time I wanted to see the license plate from a vehicle that damaged the wash at night.

It's a decent system to watch your wash when you're not there, and get an overview, but you won't get sharp detail.

It's a decent system to watch your wash when you're not there, and get an overview, but you won't get sharp detail.

IMO the only way to reliably get plates is to have a dedicated camera for that. This is an image from a fairly cheap Sony camera with an adjustable zoom lens mounted about 100' from the main entrance/exit, right above a light to take full advantage of the plates' reflective properties. The DVR was discontinued in 2002, if that gives you an idea of how outdated the hardware was. The image is full resolution and best quality the unit could record.

I installed it myself. Backstreet surveillance tec support is the best. Walked me through the whole ip set up. Look on their website under provue systems. To me have great tech support is a big + and they have a warranty of 5 years. One of my older cameras went out yesterday and they sent me an rma to have replaces and that camera is over 5 years old.

I have the same system and I have been able to get license plates plenty of times. All depends where you mount the cameras and at what angles. Are you sure you’re viewing the full 4K video? I can almost read my bay instruction signs from mine...

We have Lorex 2K 5MP cameras and can pretty much get every license plate unless in the dark areas at night.

How are you viewing the video? There are two streams - Main Stream, and Sub Stream. The main one is full resolution, the sub stream is lower resolution to stream faster. If you’re looking at the cameras from a phone app you will see the lower resolution stream (unless you specifically switch to Main Stream). If you are looking from a monitor plugged directly into the NVR it will be full resolution.

I have over 80 cross 4 locations. (5 DVRs) the HD over co ax - not any 4K . Seem to do a good job.

I have LTS cameras, which are rebranded Hik's. I have 20 cameras now. Mostly turret cams but also 2 PTZ tracking cams. I'm 100% satisfied. I actually got contacted by the PD the other day asking for info on a case/suspect and I was able to provide not only plates but facial ID to the detective. The detective commented that I gave him probably the best surveillance footage he's ever gotten in a case.

I have Lts at one of my washes in the bays its great, but out on corners and behind and fromt of wash not so great.
