OK so the TV infomercial says this valve reduces air in the water that maks the meter spin, thus saving water.

Notice they say "We apply equal amount of water pressure to both connections". Since the device is installed AFTER the meter, how is it possibly going to remove the air in the water BEFORE it hits the impellers in the meter? Either the device restricts water flow on its own or they could have just restricted the one with the device. Even in the Sonny's video he says the device is "designed specifically to try to eliminate the air". It's worded carefully so that he never claims it really does anything. I call BS.

I agree, if you apply this device to remove the air after your meter, then the air has already spun your meter, right? The only thing I can think that this device is doing is applying back pressure to "slow" down the spin, but the side effect would be less pressure on your end. Maybe there is a water engineer on this forum who would know better?

The video looks convincing though. Why didn't they apply a pressure gauge on both sides of the meter to provide more proof?

I'm no engineer and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, but this doesn't even seem to make sense. Even if the air were moving at a faster rate than the water traveling through the line (which I don't think it is), wouldn't the resistance of the water, which is far more dense than air, slow it down to the flow of the water, rather than speeding it up? I'm with whoever said it earlier, I think all it does is create back pressure, which would increase the psi of the water, but reduce the flow.

It may work, but not for the reason they claim.

Exactly, in fact I saw part of an infomercial that tried to "demonstrate" how that works. They had two 3-liter soda bottles connected neck to neck, one about 2/3rds full of water. They flipped them over and when the water started slowly gurgling to the bottom bottle said "See how slowly the water transfers from one bottle to the next?" He then swirled the top bottle to start a "cyclonic" effect which greatly improved the flow from top to bottom bottle, claims the spinning water flows faster, then he says "It works in the same way." Well, all spinning the water did was create a vortex with a vent hole in the middle for the air to get to the top bottle so the water could flow better.

Pop a Viagara and a Levitra in your mouth, chase it with a couple of shots of Rogaine and you should be good to go. Just becareful... you know...that whole 4 hour thing

Come on. You don’t need to be a genius to figure this one out. It’s not going to work. I wouldn’t even think twice about something this stupid. Why doesn’t someone buy this and field test it and report back on how mauch it really saves on the there water bill.

Me too. If it passes the science tests, let's choose a 'test carwash', kick in $X amount each and try it in the real world in order to quantify results.

I don't see how compressing the air AFTER the water meeter would have any effect....

Was excited about the concept... now not so much.

It seems like the only way it can do what it claims is by restricting the flow. It does claim that it doesn't reduce the pressure, but that's not the same thing. The place it would save the most money without having obvious adverse effects would be with the sprinklers.

I know a guy that has one. He claims it works. But just installing it seems like it wuld be hard to quantify, unless car counts and meter reading were taken before and after installation.

It seems like it would be easy for Sonny's to prove or disprove this thing works with a couple of large tanks, a pump, and a flowmeter.
