I placed an order from specialty equip a few weeks ago & it never arrived. Nobody returns calls and now the website has been suspended. I guess they have shut the doors. The most redeeming quality of their equipment is most of it can be bought from grainger, etc. I am looking for the float valve for the futura SS equipment stand. It has a 90 degree 3/8" barb for the inlet and free flow into the tank. I can adapt one from the catalog companies, but it would be a lot easier to find the original because it fits the tank. Anybody got any leads on where specialty would have gotten these from?

I recently redid one of their systems by eliminating all the individual tanks with one larger plastic tank that sits on the rear shelf. Then just use one float valve for that tank.

Well if they are still in business, they will take the award for the lousiest service response time for the year. We called there a few weeks ago three days in a row and got no response.

My distributor died a couple of years ago & I just ran out of spare stuff a few months ago. I just found out about 3 months ago that they sold direct. Would not call you back, but if you kept calling eventually you got somebody. I ordered three times. First one was fine, second they sent me stuff I didn't order (and it took 3 weeks), and the last one never showed up. They did not charge me for it, but I called a bunch with no return call. I gave up when the website was suspended.

Most of the parts you can find elsewhere. There are just a few things I would need to get from them. The valves above & does anybody know where they got the jamesbury air valves? My air valve is fine but I just used my my last set of replaceable ball valves.

I don’t think this is anything new. Specialty has been in trouble for some time. I think you can color them as gone. I’m a little surprised that they’ve hung on as long as they have. There are a few more that are on the brink or have gone under. I can’t begin to count the number of distributors that have gone under.

A lot of the Specialty parts are available from Tri-Valley in Ohio.

A lot of the parts are standard "hardware store" parts.

Chris, just for clarification, Magic Wand would be the one who is filing bankruptcy, not Istobal.

(AOK) Doug has been liquidating for sometime. He did not go BK, to my understanding.

Maybe I need to add a area of the Forum for Speciality and others that have gone BK, so people can find parts etc from each other.

Sorry for the mix up.. That is what I meant.. Doug and Thomas( A-OK are stand up guys they didn't go broke just closed the doors)And I can tell you FOR A FACT that their are 5-6 other BIG OEM that are skating on Bankruptcy or big big trouble. And on the other side the mail order Parts guys KR, Windtrax, Dultmeier,Sonnys, National Pride, Kim Supply are growing bigger and bigger ... I can relate to this the parts guys are supplying parts that are needed to keep their CW up and going..(supply and demand) Where as the OEM are selling a high dollar machine in a time when banks are not loaning $$.. and their are a ton of car washes for sale or foreclosed. Bill that is a great idea to keep the end users informed.. e-mail me and we can discuss who they are...

Specialty Equipment

We've retrofitted some old meter boxes with new updated timers and coin mechanisms in the past. I used to install some of the old Futura lines including the some of their newer automatics. Some of those parts are commodity items. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Respectfully,

McAllister

Well now I'm confused. That shouldn't be a surprise to many of you. As a Magic Wand distributor I did not know they are filing for protection. If they sent a letter I wasn't on the mailing list. I know they were on the ropes, as are most all of the players. Istobal bought Magic Wand and plans to keep the brand going. Can anyone please state who has filed?

Light a candle or curse the darkness???

Wow --- I knew that this sector of the economy with its numerous accompanying livelihoods was struggling but this thread really is a wake up call.

Add to this --- the coin op laundry industry as another sector of our economy --- that is also struggling for the most part --- than they have in the past --- we are talking about another sector also with its numerous accompanying livelihoods & I can see why recorded unemployment is over 11% in many areas of the country.

At our State Capitol Building with the unveiling of our new state quarter not that long ago July of 2006 the largest room was filled up with citizens & the US Mint top brass as part of discussion. I stood up & I truthfully identified myself as a long term member of both the ICA & the CLA & I specifically asked when it came to the President Coins "Is the emphasis on the economy or novelty coin collecting". They very firmly & emphatically said "the economy is by far the main priority"

Contrast that with the head teller at my local US Bank Main Branch & who also is my friend telling me 2 days ago that they no longer have access to anything but the mixed Susan Bs --- a major step backwards!!! Calling the US Mint yesterday made it clear to me that there is a "gag" order on those civil servants from saying anything other than the Obama Administration's new policy of impractical exorbitant charges with total emphasis on "novelty coin collecting" --- like as if they were only responsible for running a type of boutique shop!!!

Believe me --- allowing this to stand --- will not help our industry along with our accompanying livelihoods! There is an urgent need to support Congressman David Schweikerts & his 11 co sponsors --- 4 Democrats & 7 Republicans! We can do nothing & be part of the problem or we can make an honest effort to stop some of the things that are most certainly detrimental to our industry & some other industries in even more compelling ways.

Do we really want to prop people up (by our inaction) who have no genuine appreciation of learning from our country's history --- which is reflected in their cynical tone describing the names & images of the Presidents on the coins that are in the process of being killed through the bizarre current policy???

It is hard for me to believe that there is anyone is Washington DC that realizes that we exist or gives a damn about anything but lining their own pockets. I wouldn't waste my energy thinking that by waving your arms in the air will get someone's attention.

We are on our own!!
