Depending on the application 5,3, or 2HP would work.
Will show Model 516 as example;
* produces 3 GPM @ 713 RPM, 2HP when pressure is set to 1000 psi.
* produces 3 GPM @ 713 RPM, 3HP when pressure is set to 1500 psi.
* produces 4 GPM @ 950 RPM, 3HP when pressure is set to...
Do not remember where I heard or read this riddle .....
A bat & ball together cost $1.10, the bat was 1.00 more than the ball.
How much was the ball ?

Different pumps can use the same drive end (crankcase), however the plunger diameters should remain the same with each pump model.
Example;
3545 plunger diameter = 45mm
3535 plunger diameter = 40mm
3520 plunger diameter = 32mm

1725 rpm / 900 rpm
Each pump valve opens & closes 28.75 times per second when pump rpm is 1725, by comparison
each pump valve opens & closes 15 times per second when pump rpm is 900.
Be mindful of "thermal transfer" from motor shaft thru pump shaft on direct drive.

Hi Stampede & Guests, Happy to help !
Best thing you can do for any plunger pump is to give it a good water supply.
Plunger pumps are positive displacement, so give them plenty of water at the inlet - refrain from starving them too much.
Change your high pressure seals at the same time you...
Hi CarWashHelp,
1-groove vs. 2-groove;
1-groove is common when using "B" belt.
2-groove may be seen when using the narrower "A" belt, especially when smaller pulleys are used.
Belt to pulley contact decreases as pulley diameter decreases.
Without knowing the nozzle size you use, the best I...
Hi loewem, Keep in touch regarding the pulley sizes. This will help calculate pump flow and advise max psi without overlading the 3hp motor/electrical components.
Application note;
A #8 nozzle needs nearly 4.8 gpm to obtain 1400 psi.
Approx. 4-1/2 hp is necessary to drive pump delivering...
Thank you Soapy for sharing data, it is helpful reference !
I formatted your information to column form, and added 1200 PSI measurements and GPM flow.
Please check for discrepancies as I could not find the formula.

Hi loewem,
To assist with checking the load/HP requirement, keep in touch about the pulley diameters being used and pressure setting.
Were the pulley diameters changed when you put new ones on ?
Good luck today - Happy to help !

Hi MDrost1,
Not that this is the case but it sounds like the pump may be struggling to get water.
Check & replace the hose feeding water to the pump.
Don't know the age of your equipment but over time hoses can break down internally, restricting water flow to pump.
Good Luck - Happy to help...
Hi Rudy, Yes repair can be done and it appears you have good resources here for spare parts.
I see you also asked about model 508, additionally models 511, 516, & 313 are common.
It will be ideal to know the following when selecting a new pump;
* Application; single gun, dual gun, or other ...
I.B. & cwguy, The Arimitsu literature is consistent at 2300 PSI for the model 516 pump, I do not find the 2500 PSI spoken about ?

Hi Mike,
You likely initially had stuck inlet valves. Whether pump is new or used it may flukeishly happen when idle for years.
* The best way to free valves and to avoid seal damage; Connect a garden hose to the pump inlet and run the pump.
In your case, hooking air to the pump...
