Dencar Retrofit Door Paystation

Has anybody tried nxtwash on an IBA? Seems like a good option also, but sounds like they are having growing pains also based on FB group.

Here’s the pic how the hardware looks like for the ACW retrofit door. First impression all hardware are built solid. We used the smart plug to control the touchscreen only. But then you have many other network devices associated with it. When I said I had to reset everything, I meant we needed to power cycle the touchscreen, the sea level I/O and the network switch. The latter two components are placed in the Petit control panel and the office respectively. Unlike the HTK, the Dencar retrofit door doesn’t host its server on site.

You should be able to remotely get on the Control Console and reboot the kiosk and services. (all components) Dencar should have provided you an info sheet with a unique IP address for the Control Console. You need to connect to a VPN when not on the local onsite network. It is hard on that mini computer to just kill power to it.

I was able to access the controller. But it seems there is no "reset" button. Here's the screenshot. The retrofit door still goes down almost everyday after Dencar performed a major update last week on the software.

The Dencar retrofit is very different from the original kiosk. Currently you cannot VPN in to reset the kiosk on the retrofit. It also uses a UPS so cycling power requires opening the kiosk.
Dencar is testing a solution to retrofit crashing issue. The retrofits are really new and still have issues to resolve.

I have 7 kiosks (not retrofits) and I am happy with them. No one else offers a comparable solution for memberships at an IBA

put this after your unit IP address /#/admin/control
Thanks a bunch. That works. The 1-page info sheet was the only document Dencar provided to our distributor and us. There's no installation manual nor troubleshooting guideline. Our distributor, like most of the operators here, has limited knowledge on networking. With all the issues we have experienced, I don't think Dencar is ready for prime time.

I have many of their pay stations. I consider them to be pretty reliable. The S2 and EP13 are very good units and the ones I have dealt with have had zero issues.

Agree they need to work on included documentation. I believe they do a weekly overview course to cover how everything works. Dencar support is also very good if you are having problems or general questions.

Couple of things I recommend anyone who is doing a new Dencar install do:
  • Install network equipment first.
  • Set up and bench test your pay station before installing on an IBA. Leave it connected for at least 2-3 days before you install it to make sure everything is running and communicating properly.
  • Once installed, run your unit for a couple of weeks before launching memberships. Verify license plate cameras are giving you good images and triggering correctly.
  • If you are installing WIFI vac relays, make sure you install your exterior WIFI antenna within sightline of all your vacs. Test multiple times within the app and verify connectivity to your site controller.
  • Make sure you play around in the Admin Portal.

Internet based solutions and networking are going to be a large part of the car wash experience moving forward. Choose your distributor wisely. Like certain car wash owners, some are stuck in the past when it comes to tech.
