Customer behaviour....improved!

Through the years of ownership of our wash, we have noticed that as we improve the presentation and cleanliness that our customers generally seems to leave less of a mess.

Recently we had the entire wash painted, which lifted the presentation significantly. And it seems to me that customer behaviour improved again.

Wondering if anyone else has seen this pattern? Cheers, Greg

Congratulations you've discovered the "Broken Window Theory"! The belief is that visible signs of disorder, such as broken windows, graffiti, or litter, create an environment that encourages further crime and antisocial behavior. Keeping a clean environment will help prevent more serious crimes by creating a sense of order and lawfulness.

Thanks Kim. We don't really have any law and order issues at our wash (small rural town in Australia) so that hasn't been anything that changed. The surprise for me was the sharp decline in the amount of mud left in the bays, along with little things like foam brushes hung up rather than laying on the ground. Certainly no complaints, just really shocked at the change. Hope you're enjoying your post-carwash life.

Thanks Greg! I know at my wash, the cleaner I kept it, the MORE customers would respect it & it stayed cleaner. I'm loving the slower pace of semi-retirement! I work at my old wash on Wednesdays. Every day, I'm either working in my garden, volunteering or helping friends. Here's my latest hobby... cleaning the nearby creeks & streams with RCWA! 🤩
