Agreed, however most credit card users do use them interchangeably in practice as well. Most can't pay off their balance every month, the credit card users who pay their balances in full every month is definitely the minority, and I would guess by a large margin they are the minority.

I have the exact same timers as you at one of our locations with nayax installed in count up mode - using some relays and dc power supply. Count down can also be done with those timers and nayax. No need to replace timers, it can be done with your current setup

I don't think they are trying to reinvent the wheel exactly, they built an IBA using mainly off the shelf parts without using proprietary parts. Eliminating distributors, bringing down overall lifetime cost of the machine.
