Another tankless water heater replacing boiler thread

Sorry, reread your post and you mentioned controls. Basically the same way I have my controls set up. You are only controlling the main loop circulator and the pumps supplying glycol to the heaters...The inlet pressure to the heaters is what turns them on. So (Using relays of course to handle...

Another tankless water heater replacing boiler thread

Good question...I found a very good video showing how to plumb multiple heaters into the main floor heat loop. It takes him 2 minutes to explain what would take me a lot longer here on the forum! The video is how I would do it except for one change. Instead of running the pumps in parallel like...

Did anyone buy a $200 set of leather car mats??

I don't think a Carwash Owner makes enough money to buy leather car matts! They are Reserved for the most wealthy who don't get their feet dirty!

Another tankless water heater replacing boiler thread

I don't think a "Cheap" chinese heater wouild be a good idea. Here is a thread I started about 11 years ago in which others have followed suit. An alternative to expensive Boilers is to install a NG Demand Heater. The 199K BTU Takagi I installed is just a little over $1200 now at Supplyhouse.com...

    Weep System Cuasing Overflow

I don't think I knew who you were 12 years ago! LOL I think IB actually let the cat out of the bag!! Using those Unloader Check Valves was down-right sneaky! Although that long ago I might not have known what a check valve actually was!

    Weep System Cuasing Overflow

Like others have said, good luck finding the culpret (Bad or stuck C/V). It took me forever to figure out what was causing my gravity tanks to overflow when weeping....Seems as though the Mark VII designers took advantage of the Built in CV in the Giant Unloaders to eliminate weep backfeeding...

    310 manifold washout

Your right Randy, Vilco is no longer in business. They really need to clean up all reference to their business! You must have got one of the heads done late Friday evening, or on an early Monday Morning Hangover! If done properly it is a quality repair. I think 5.5 years on my rebuild is nothing...

    The "Tools I love" thread

Just thought I would update this old thread and "Needle" IB a little! I traded my old HF knee mill (that didn't have digital readout) for this one! I think $1800 difference! So much easier to make things with closer tolerances! Haven't had to rework a head yet with this new mill, but have made...

    310 manifold washout

To update my Vilco style repair. The heads I had in service 2.5 years ago are still in service. So the oring method is holding up (5.5 years now) if done correctly. For newbies, the links above show/explain how its done! I can see where these can be machined in a setting where it is done by...

    Home built air dryer.

Excellent thread with innovative idea's! Blanco, whats the round piece with holes attached to the exit end? Also if you mounted these in the attic, any trouble with heat causing premature failure in the summer? Possibly a powered attic ventilator might help?

Trash can's (where to buy) for vacuum islands

The Uline cans are 35 gallon ($100) and the Rumpke Totes like I have are 96 gallons (I paid $75 ea). So not quite 3 times larger. HD and Lowes sells a 64 gallon one for ($109) and the 96 gallon like the Rumpke tote for ($124). I'll have to disagree with having a 35 gallon trash can at the CW...

Trash can's (where to buy) for vacuum islands

BTW, since its my dumpster! I cut the locking mechanism apart and did away with the gears and "Stuff" inside the locking box. Now I don't have to unlock it to dump the totes in. Plus the mechanism is such that when tilted its "Supposed" to unlock on its own so it can be dumped into the garbage...

Trash can's (where to buy) for vacuum islands

I just attached a photo of the dumpster I own...I wanted to make sure I quoted the size correctly! The ID is 3'x3'x6'....2cu yd. Costs me $56 a month dumped once a week, up $4.00 from 11 years ago! I usually don't wait till the totes are completely full before dumping. AND inveribly someone...

Trash can's (where to buy) for vacuum islands

I purchased my 1/2 cu yd garbage cans/totes off Rumpke that Ihave at each vac island....Slightly used for $75 ea. and they hold up extremely well. Cheaper than you can buy this size anywhere else even if you can find them this size. I don't know if Rumpke still offers this, but might be worth...

    Questions about slab heat

Good question! I used a 5 gallon bucket and a cheap garden hose sump pump and put a 5 micron filter inline. Let that run for a few days. Then when I filled the system, I used the same sump pump to fill the system, but took out the filter, didn't think I needed it! Mistake, you are right, it...

    Questions about slab heat

The 2 pumps inline was required to give the demand heater the right pressure. I origianly installed (1) based on Takagi support recommendation! Boy was they wrong! I was only getting 3gpm through the heater at 20psi...Adding a second pump inline doubles pressure. So now I get 6gpm with the 2...

Another tankless water heater replacing boiler thread

So I think the "General Contractor, suppliers, and manufacturers" needs some schooling! Although if the suppliers and manufacturers only handle boilers, then you know why they think the way they do!!! LOL...Making claims that demand heaters won't last because of short cycling? I wonder how many...
