    Adding Monex readers

I just looked on Kleen-Rite's site, and the LED6 has gone WAY up in price, now only $34 less than the LED6S. If it were me, I'd get the LED6S which can be used in a Coleman vac or a bay, then you only need to keep one type as backup.

Looking to get into the business

I don't know of any publications that cover self-serves well, except maybe SS Car Wash News. You can read some back issues online or order copies. There are a lot of in-depth interviews with owners/operators along with regular articles and even discussions copied from this forum. Pretty much...

    Last coin alert beeper

I wonder if your timer isn't putting out enough voltage. There's one car wash I service that has Dixmor timers, and his are really weak. I can barely hear the coin drop beep, and they put out a very low level ring all the time that blends in with my tinnitus. Set it on constant instead of...

Looking to get into the business

I'm really not trying to be rude, but you wasted your time there. This forum is 99% experienced owners/operators with some vendors mixed in. You won't find better real-world advice anywhere else. Car Wash Chronicles and InvestmentJoy are mainly interested in building their channels. The...

    Adding Monex readers

I doubt anyone would care enough that it would be an issue. You might have people preferring the Dixmor bays because they can read the timer better.

    Chattering issue HP

This is the best check valve to use on a Coleman unit. They have a very low failure rate, zero in my experience, and have just enough drag from the spring that you usually don't have to throttle the flow with the ball valve to force it to draw soap...

Stuff like this makes you want to quit the business...

Did he wash or just pull in to graffiti?

Looking to get into the business

Yeah, because there's about a half million in equipment just in those two bays.

    1/4" Plastic Tubing Normal Life???

Yes, and there's an inner support tube so the compression ring can better retain the tubing.

    Adding Monex readers

Just making sure this isn't a miscommunication, you don't need the LED6S for your bays, just the regular LED6 which are a lot less expensive.

You can still get the timers repaired, but I'd spend the money on replacing them with Dixmor LED6 timers. You will have little to no trouble with them.

    Turbo Towel placement

I think you'd be better off with a boom. What you're proposing will be difficult for customers to handle.

Stuff like this makes you want to quit the business...

That's absolute BS. Illegal dumping on private property. Cops down there must suck worse than Austin PD. You might need to add a couple signs that state some huge fine for dumping, then take them to court.

    Adding Monex readers

If I'm not mistaken, you can connect the Monex to any timer because it sends currency pulses.

    Turbo Towel placement

I'd look into one or two 4" square tubes. A single heavy wall tube won't make it look cluttered and should be plenty strong, and it will mean never having to get on the roof. A single tube coming down through the roof wouldn't hold both the dryer and the boom. The dryer on the roof isn't a...

    Turbo Towel placement

You could run a heavy 4" square tube horizontally between the upright ones.

Why isn’t my self serve working out?

You don't need to lower the time. They'll notice. Increasing the start amount will also be noticed, but should get less pushback. Do you get a lot of people who bring buckets and tie up a bay? A higher startup will get more money from them each visit. Accepting credit cards will make the...

Looking to get into the business

The number of bays will only affect your cleaning time. If that's one of your big issues, rural should be out. They spend the least money and make the biggest messes. Mud will be your enemy. Electrical on a car wash is usually pretty solid. There's little failure to it, and components are...

Why isn’t my self serve working out?

You could probably squeeze a display timer into that box and add another box next to it for a card reader. You've probably already read that count-up is a good way to go, since a customer can just swipe their card and wash until they're done, and they tend to spend about 30% more. It would be...

Looking to get into the business

For a self serve only with no automatic bays, there aren't any really major issues unless it's something like a broken water line under the driveway, which is a major deal. Mine broke February last year, it cost $20,000 to repair, and I was down nearly the whole month. YouTube channels are NOT...
