Any wire splice I have ever made in the bay has failed; some quicker than others. If you know you made a good wire connection then I would apply extra waterproofing of the splice. A few layers of protection can really help.

The ones we use for our touch free / self serve wash are the bulk box from ERC wiping. They are recycled so they dry well w/ no break in peeriod. They might be too low class for your wash though.

update: i covered the hole under the manhole better with extra blue foam insulation and a blue tarp and no freeze up with a -17 degree night.
