    Bay running rough

I did reuse all the old fittings. It possible one it cracked but I REALY wish if that were the case that it would at least have a teeny drip or something. I’m not sure where to begin when it comes to trying to sleuth it. Should I replace all the fittings? Shouldn’t be any foreign objects in the...

    Bay running rough

Oh! Well I didn’t try taking it out of the equation all together. I’ll remove it and see if it smooths out.

    Bay running rough

I just reread your original reply and I think I didn’t read it right😁. Did you ever end up solving the problem? It sounds like yours was much worse than ours, but maybe they are having the same problem.

    Bay running rough

We only have a pulsation hose on the self serve bays. Our automatics have big Cat 3535 pumps and they have the large black pulsation dampener. I wasn’t aware they make them for smaller pumps. I’ll have to get one and try it.

Wait. Laurel can only go up to $1.00? I didn’t know that😁.

    Futura Wash alarm email question

Have your alarm systems on those machines worked well for you?? One of my machines is a revolution and I unhooked all the alarm systems 21 years ago. It seriously drove me nuts. Not one time did it have a legit alarm - every time they were false alarms and they’d shut the wash down costing me...

    Wall Mounted Vending Machines

I have both, regular vendors and glass front and it’s mostly as a perk for my customers. We sell quite a bit of product but there’s not much profit in it. For the regular drop shelf vendors Laurel is awesome. Glass front is more dicey. I had a Dilling Harris that I despised. After 2 years I tore...

    Anatomy of a rotary switch

I’ve noticed that too. I’ve used Shalco for 25 years and they used to last a lot longer. Why do they cheapen crap? I’d gladly pay more to have it last longer. I hate trying to retire that tiny thing when it’s 5 degrees out.

    New to the Carwash business

That is not a valid comp. Tunnel wash vs in bay automatic are entirely different animals and customer bases. Speaking from 25 years of car wash ownership of multiple locations. You should listen to the advice these guys are giving you, they know what they are talking about.

Changing from count down to count up

We have always had count up - Washgear - and we LOVE it. The customer slides their card once and washes as long as they like. They spend more money if they aren’t having to go back and pull their card out and slide it again. Plus we pay less fees. Every time a card is slid you pay a fee - we...

    Bay running rough

Ok you guys, I’m at my whits end. One of my self serve bays has a vibration and I have tried everything I can think of. It’s a belt drive set up running a Cat Pump 5CP2120W. I’ve been running 15 self serve bays for 25 years and they always run smooth. This bay started running a little rough a...

    Treadle systems

Oh my gosh, we get a LOT of snow. Thank you for that info.

    Good point!

    Treadle systems

Oh yes! Another potential problem I hadn’t thought of. We have had customers in the past jump the guard rail and try to put their tire between the tracks and the rail thinking that’s where they’re supposed to be. But you are right, with my system and the machine doesn’t turn on. A couple years...

    Treadle systems

We have thought about doing that too, but we weren’t sure if the pads would fail a lot because of the constant weight of the vehicle on it the whole wash cycle? Right now the two pads we use for the undercarriage and back up light only get drove over briefly and they will last anywhere from 6...

    Treadle systems

I have used the same system to trigger my car washes for 25 years and I'm about ready to have them rebuilt again - this time I'm going to try having them made out of stainless steel. The regular steel lasts about 7-8 years with a little shoring up and welding from time to time, so I'm hoping...

White streaks/spots when temps are under 45°

Ok, THIS is an intriguing thought. In this particular location, the dryers are inside of the bay and the dryers are located directly beneath the open garage door (the door stays up during the wash cycle in the winter and closes after the car exits). Since this doesn’t happen at our other...

White streaks/spots when temps are under 45°

We thought that could be a possibility too, so several times over the last couple decades we’ve wash out the dryer housings to see if that would help but it didn’t change the white streaks and spots. The only thing that ever gets it to stop is temperature. The dryers in this particular location...

White streaks/spots when temps are under 45°

I thought I responded to your post but I don’t see it?? Thank you for the information about the tunnel blowers. I’m going to look into getting heaters to blow hot air towards the dryer intakes. At this point it seems like the easiest solution. As long as we can get the air temp above 45 the...

White streaks/spots when temps are under 45°

Well, we’re much dustier here in the summer and it never happens then. It only happens when the temps drop below 45°. It stops instantly when the temp is above that. Every day in the colder months it will streak and spot until the temps are above 45 and then it immediately stops - only to start...
