Survival; Just bought a car wash, Now tunnel opening a block away

it is a national chain and yes its a very dense area. It's (currently) a 3min-5+min drive depending on time of day and stoplights. It looks top notch and seems steady. I've never used their service, but friends from the area tell me that they do not like to use them because of clear coat damage...

Survival; Just bought a car wash, Now tunnel opening a block away

This chain also has a location about a mile away around the corner. Some of my mentors are saying that we have probably already been living in the competitive market without knowing because we're none the wiser. Think a difference of 1 mile to right next door is that much worse? Again, fishing...

Survival; Just bought a car wash, Now tunnel opening a block away

Oddly enough, a deal with a different express chain failed at that very location right before we purchased. I figured that was our window to jump in and get going. I always knew the threat was there, but I guess I was a bit surprised when only 3 months later one of their competitors pounced on...

Survival; Just bought a car wash, Now tunnel opening a block away

Hello I'm looking for those who have found themselves next to a tunnel. I've never owned a wash before and just bought one 5 months ago (6/2 SS/IBA). We're in process of renovating and making it better and things have been going uphill until now. I just got word that our city has signed off on...

    Question about Car Wash Lighting🚗

In my area, it’s less about the car and more about making people comfortable to wash at night. The super bright lights remove the anxiety that the dull fluorescent horror film lights create

Ha, it begins! Our first snow of the season.

if you’re talking about revenue, same… we took over in July and our books were going up and up and then November was very demoralizing thanks to near constant rain. It almost feels like I’m being boycotted or something but my mentors just laugh and tell me to quit worrying

Ha, it begins! Our first snow of the season.

Jaltavela, did you have a nice rush after the snow? im in the same boat as you. We just had our first big snow 48 hrs ago and our fingers are crossed waiting for the “salt lines” we’ve been told about. Temp is in the mid teens to 20s until Wednesday

    Monex connection help

I second that ^^^^^ We switched to count down and it’s the best thing we ever did. So many are firm on count-up. I get that studies and anecdotes and intuition would suggest that count-up is the best option, but in our situation, the stop button issue ruins it’s convenience we switched to 4...

    Surfline Tandem

I’ve just bought a wash and restored its PDQ tandem rite touch unit. The vertical brush seems fairly aggressive on the drivers side (often cocking customer side mirrors) but is just fine on the passengers side. Can this sensitivity be adjusted?

Wiring temp probe to old water heater

All, trying to get this old beast going again. Can’t find any schematics inside the panel. Can someone tell me where to hook up the temp probe thermostat wires to this unit?

Help Needed: Persistent Pump Cavitation Issue in 3-Bay Self-Serve Car Wash

Let us know if these changes don’t solve the problem. There’s another possible concern regarding that model of cat pump, but it’s not worth talking about unless everything else has been addressed

Help Needed: Persistent Pump Cavitation Issue in 3-Bay Self-Serve Car Wash

I second what Randy said and if it were me, I’d immediately replace that big 3/4” check valve and it’s reducer bushings with a simple swivel and a nipple. While it’s apart, make sure the other check is in good condition. is that a plug or some type of PRV on that 90? Try to minimize...

Rebuilt CAT 310 Pump...now no High Pressure

Also… make sure the regulator isn't totally unloaded

Rebuilt CAT 310 Pump...now no High Pressure

Start by checking the pump valves. Half the time a bit of metal or crud or thread tape can wash its way into the suction valves after I tighten all the fittings back down when rebuilding, especially if I’m reusing old brass fittings. While the top (discharge) valves and plugs are out, look down...

    Customer Ebb and Flow

As a noob, I’m still getting my bearings, but I’m constantly perplexed by when I think we’re going to have a slow week because of heat/weather, local events, etc. that we wind up busy. When the weather is nice and not Much seems to be going on, it’s crickets and dry bays during the day. Almost...
