New price sign, the good, the bad, and the ugly

Dear Sequoia: Your sign needs to be inverted e.g. first show the lowest price start, this may mean more to the customer than your best deal: in large letters: $2 for a value 3 minute wash, add coins for more time (consider a red color) Special Value Deals: Insert $5 at start for 10 minutes, our...

New price sign, the good, the bad, and the ugly

Dear Sequoia The fact that you mentioned that most of your customers are transient SUV's and trucks lead me to believe that they would afford $3 for 4 minutes rate for their entire wash. You said that they are one time customers. My second rate, if I had one, would then be $5 for 8 minutes, a...

New price sign, the good, the bad, and the ugly

Dear Sequoia: With all due respect I'm not going to hold back with what I think. As I mentioned earlier I don't think you should get into much discussion on time and minutes because people aren't really that concerned, they just want to wash their car. Your method builds up concern on their...

New price sign, the good, the bad, and the ugly

You may be on a good track however I run my two 6 bay washes with Washgear credit card system and that accounts for 34% of our business. People come in to wash their cars not necessarily thinking how many minutes or coins they're going to use. Right now we charge 75 cents per minute with a $2...

Start up price $2.00 or $2.25 vs. coin and bill usage

Stay at $2 start up Stay at $2 startup and then when increases are needed reduce the time for each dollar. We're up to $.75/ minute and business hasn't been affected. There are two dollar guys that come in but they're very few.

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

If you've got competition some of your customers may leave you rather than pay a $3 startup. You're assuming that they'll all stick with you after you raise the startup. That's why I commented "Perhaps you have no competition".

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

Tsk Tsk Tsk........... sounds like price fixing to me. I don't know about Canada's laws, but in the USA you'd have a problem.

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

Why are you so certain that those that spend $2 will spend $3? Perhaps you have no competition.

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

That's right, with a $3- 5 minute cycle the guy may hustle to finish his car whereas a $2 cycle he may add a coin or two and spend more. Do you allow the customer to add a coin as long as the time hasn't run out? We do. Whoever invented the buzzer should be castrated.

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

I keep a $2 startup. My credit card customers spend an average of $5.60. Some, but very few spend $2 about 1 out of 20. Some have spent as much as $22, not often, taking their good old time with no buzzers waking them. I don't know how much the token customers spend but I'd estimate around...

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

You make no sense in raising to $3 without a revenue increase. If I washed out a truck I'd be happy to pay a dollar more to get rid of the mud. Stay at $2 and lower the time then the mud guy might need more time. Also you should post a sign that you charge $50 or $100 for anyone that cleans...

Need to raise SS price any good ideas?

Go to $2 startup and say nothing, after that when you need a raise just lower the amount of time and keep the $2 startup. For $2 we give 160 seconds since a year ago and sales volume has increased proportionately if not more. Our credit card in bay business is a little more than 34% of the...

What happens to CC when internet is down?

34% of our sales are via credit card. If the DSL is down then we'd be nearly out of business. Dialup for individual approval would take too long for approval between customers. I would like to see Washgear develop their software so that if the internet connection is down the Cardmate system...

What happens to CC when internet is down?

If the internet service is down does Washgear Cardmate issue unauthorized meter time for the customer and get authorization later or is the system out of business? Original Cardmate, before internet service, checked that it was a valid card and then checked for authorization in a batch...

We installed a Genesis Kit 3 months ago and its been working fine. It does audit the money paid in and it also audits the left and right hoppers with three built-in meters. Jim sets it up at the factory as to what payout you want for individual bills. We just ordered three more Genesis kits...

Refund? Believe This ? Caller Complaint

Tokens are $1. Our average for CC customers is between $4.70 to $5.60 per wash. They don't hear a buzzer and they push "stop" when they're finished. They account for 31% of our business.

Refund? Believe This ? Caller Complaint

We always refund their money plus give a few extra tokens. This guy was drunk, Hic Up. 8 tokens amounts to 12 minutes and our equipment was working properly.

Refund? Believe This ? Caller Complaint

Message on complaint line: "I'm at one of your washes and I want you to know that I spent 8 tokens trying to wash my car and I stopped after 8 and it still has soap on it. I don't know what's wrong but I can't get it finished. It seems that I had to pay for three washes and it's still not...
