We closed for 3 days in Jan when the temps went well below zero.
In front of each bay was a full sized traffic cone with a laminated sign on it that read " Closed Too Cold/Cerrado Demasiado Frio"
On the morning of the 4th day (where temps were finally going to rise into the teens) I arrived...
Below 17°F I close my touchless IBAs. This is usually at night. I only have doors on the exits, and even though my presoaks, and other chemicals are heated to 60°F, they freeze on the vehicle before the high pressure pass.
This cold stretch we're having right now is the coldest I've seen...
Side note, I am closed. I've been closed Mon, Tues and today (Wednesday 1/22/25). It's too cold. Low last night hit -13°F, actual temp. No wind chill BS but the raw actual temp. Today's high is supposed to be +13°F. Tonight's low is forecast to be 0°F. I'm not missing much.
I've got the...
Yep I understand all this.
I just wish folks would list dimensions, the critical ones are the .430/11mm stem dia & the .875 overall height.
It's used on a variety of gas valves, and I think I'm going to keep an eye on ebay for a reasonably priced used one and buy it for a spare. New valve is...
Sadly, no. They wont sell individual parts for the gas valve. So buying a complete $1300 unit was the only solution.
Should be here tomorrow.
I am currently closed. Daytime highs are low teens, and tonight we'll fall below zero. Similar temps on Wednesday.
I plan to open back up on...

There is a great need for a sarcastic font.
Sorry, I'm not making fun of you, it's just I feel your pain. During preseason testing last year, I discovered a leak in my floor heat that was about 1.5 gal day. Luckily for me, it was the manifold under my boiler and I was able to repair it...
I'm relatively new to this also, this is my second winter as an owner/operator.
Here's my experience. It's about the change. For us here in the high coal country of Pa, we just got sustained cold after record breaking warmth this fall. Right now, highs in the upper 20s during the day...
I think two things:
1) I'd like to keep 4 menu items, as I'm not sure what to do with the vacant spot that 3 washes would create on my goldlines. Unless someone's got an idea of what to do with it.
2) I'm not opposed to raising prices. But I'm wondering about the $13 dollar price point...
So a little background, I've only been in the business for 18 months (April 27th, 2023 was closing).
Before I took over, the place was neglected, and run by a literal drunk. He's an ex-cop who was in the middle of a divorce and a lawsuit with his previous employer. This joker was an absentee...
I am curious as to what others have done that's been successful. I'd like to offer wash packages with Hamilton Token Notes. (at this time I do not have the ability to do wash packages with my pay stations & memberships)
My current IBA pricing structure is:
Wash 1 $6: undercarriage flush...
