forced to put an air vent in control room were water heater is in Ontario Canada

Appliances that use the room are need a significant amount of make up air to ensure proper combustion. The poorly sealed equipment room may have enough leak that it satisfies the appliance needs but the mechanical contractor needs to cover his a$$. If you switch to a high efficiency model you...

    Pink stains from was

Face that side of the car towards the sun. The colorant used in soaps isn’t UV stable and the sun will bleach it out in a few hours. This “staining” is probably less of an issue with the Carwash soap and more of an indication that you have a clearcoat problem.

Dry brush washers. I can’t keep doing this

I’m at $5 for 5 minutes. A guy the week before brought his own bucket already filled with water. Mostly I needed to vent. I know I said in my original post that I didn’t need affirmation but reality is that I just needed some affirmation that I was doing the right thing in spite of the...

Dry brush washers. I can’t keep doing this

I just had a guy here scrubbing his whole jeep down with a dry foam brush. “Sorry sir, but the timer needs to be running if you want to use the equipment”. “ARE YOU F***ing KIDDING ME! I came in to use your business and this is the way I get treated!” Peeled out of here. I don’t...

Can you use industrial blowoff systems in a car wash?

I didn’t see any information regarding how much air is being moved (CFM). I suspect if this type of system was practical some manufacturer would have adopted it. This system looks to be similar to Protovest “Stripper” and several other systems with a movable/profiling top blower. I suspect...

My FB soap about 5 minutes after a customer left the bay. Color is already fading

    Foam brush stains

I don’t “get sick” when I get undiluted Carwash chemicals on my hands. The guy can make any kind of claim he wants but realistically it isn’t an issue. Letting the boat sit in the sun should make the color fade. The stuff isn’t UV stable.

    Foam brush stains

Great vibrant color that doesn’t stain. It actually turns white several minutes after coming out of the brush. I’m desensitized to the smell but every once in a while I get a whiff. It’s seems to be a mix of strawberry and cherry. Not too strong. My wife would complain to me if it was too...

    Foam brush stains

I avoid the blue FB because I got one complaint about staining 1 guys hand blue. I’ve been using JBS Pink foam detergent for years without any issues/complaints Yes, it’s a triple foam product that I use for FB with a pink tip. It lasts a long time

    Presoak Show in IBA.....

Are there any foam generators in this system? I’ve had poor performance on products and 9 times out of 10 it is an issue where the scrubber material in the foam generator is gummed up or had the water pressure push/compress the material. Just experienced this with my ceramic coat. I was...

    Zips files for bankruptcy

“This was not, however, the sentiment I found when reading a thread on one of the car wash forums…” I wonder which Car (space) Wash (space) Forum he saw this mentioned? And just to be clear, it is absolutely “us versus them”. The independently owned washes in my immediate area don’t actively...

    Foamy vs Runny

I like it so that the customer can’t see out the windows the entire time. If it is runny enough that it starts to slide down the windows it isn’t clingy enough. My theory is that if the soap runs off the car it isn’t cleaning where it isn’t. Same look with my tri-foam

    Tripping Circuit Breaker

3 phase? You may be losing a leg (phase) Tighten all of the lugs on the motor starter and breaker. I had 1 dryer motor that would drop a phase about once a year. I had it on my PM list to tighten all the lugs once every 6 months. If I forgot to do it I’d have an issue. I eventually...

    Unitec Chase card issues

There is a known issue with cards with an expiration date of 2030, not just Chase cards. My distributor did a software update on my Sentinels at both of my sites a couple of weeks ago. Seems to have resolved the problem. Try going through your distributor and try to get Q (Quinton) as your tech

    Dilling Harris equipment question.

Are you replacing just the coil or the entire valve assembly? The “molten plastic” is also what happens when you energize a coil with nothing in the center to absorb the magnetic field. If the coil gets energized and the plunger doesn’t retract because of a physical obstruction I suppose the...

    Old Monorail Self Service Station

That stuff is much older than my equipment. The unguarded belts don’t sit well with me even though I’m a “safety third” type of guy. I’d expect to pay land value for this project. You’ll need to sink a lot of money into this. Be sure to dig deep into your proforma. Nothing like buying...

    Old Monorail Self Service Station

I have Monorail equipment from about 1984. Nothing on the pump stand that isn’t fairly standard SS stuff. You may be able to start up using the existing meter box and timers but IMO that should be replaced immediately. I have Etowah Valley Equipment meter boxes with Dixmir timers, multi...
