10,000 Little Things

As we look at the possibility that my son is going to by my car wash, I've been giving him some of the less obvious pointers. Yesterday I was explaining that the 15 gallon Bug Brush barrels at the entrance to the IBAs need to be:
1. Kept at lest 2/3 full so customers don't move them.
2. Close enough to the building that the cameras can see anyone stealing a brush. yet;
3. Far enough away from the lighted menu board so that they aren't hit with the brush handle.

It dawned on me that the car wash business is 10,000 little things.

are you having him shadow you for 6 mos-1 year? sure hope so.

My son has been helping me with my car washes since I built my first one in 1997. In fact he and I were partners on a 6/1 at one time. He'll do well. In fact he'll likely do better than me because he can be more tolerant of mud.

I know what you mean; one of the 10,000 things is hanging the vac hoses "properly". I prefer to loop them twice with the claw on the front so the customer can take it down without it getting knotted or twisted. I've never been able to teach that to any of the help; the last person wound them up tight and each day after she worked I'd find a couple left on the ground in a knot. That never happens when I hang them.
