Most washes I see are priced rounded to the dollar - $6, $8 etc. Back when I started in the 80's we used pricing like $3.50, $4.50 - even $3.75 etc. Is anyone currently pricing any of their IBA washes rounded to the half-dollar?
I can see some potential advantages:
1. A $6.50 basic wash is still in the "six dollar range."
2. Many customers who pay cash and only use bills will recieve 50 cents back and may be more inclined to use a vac or vending machine with the extra coins.
3. You can tighten the gap from your second highest wash to your highest wash. For instance, if you wanted to set your top wash at $12, instead of $10 and $12 for the top two, you could price them at $10.50 and $12, making the case to purchase the top package even stronger with only $1.50 increase for all the top options.
A wash that is priced 6, 8, 10 and 12 could tighten up all of the bottom packages by pricing 6.50, 8.50. 10.50 and 12.
Any thoughts - anyone doing this in their IBA?
