506/507 Hydrominder leaking through.

A few days ago I entered my wash to find a Hydrominder tank running over. The float was bobbing on top of the water as it should. It wasn't full-on, just a small stream and not enough to pull chemical. I took it apart and found nothing wrong (no debris and the body had no obvious deformities or what-not). I stuck in a new diaphragm and it seemed to be fine. This morning I went in and found the tank running over, just as before. I've never had an issue like this. I'd like to know what is wrong instead of just putting on a new Hydrominder.

I've had bad luck putting just a diaphragm in one when there's a problem. A whole valve kit has always fixed it.

Are u sure it's not being back fed from the bottom of the tank. I would drain the tank and start turning stuff on and see if it starts filling back up. weep check valves are bad about this.

No backfeeding, since it was one of the colors on the SS tri-foam system. I pulled off the discharge hose and it was definitely coming through the Hydrominder. I replaced the stem kit and it still did it. I couldn't see a thing wrong with the body itself, but I had a new one in the truck and swapped it out and that seems to have fixed it.

I've had a couple with hairline cracks in the body, not really sure why that would happen after some number of years but its happened to me more than once. Hard to see the cracks, I found them by prying a bit with a screwdriver (after having replaced it). Perhaps I use too much teflon tape and screw things together too tightly, I know I've cracked a couple brass fittings by doing that.

Could it be a bad checkvalve backfeeding though the pump from a function like spot free? I had an issue last winter where I kept finding my tank running over. It turned out to be a bad checkvalve on the weep water

I've never had a body crack, but I've taken them apart before where it was so tight I was surprised the plastic didn't split. I suppose over time with that much stress it would eventually break.

For me, if replacing the diaphragm doesn't resolve it, I replace the body. Could be a crack or a worn spot not allowing the diaphragm seat properly.

Just rebuild it with a kit from a cw supply. its easy to do and most likely will fix it.
