Microsoft Not Calling
Thank you for your Sunbelt Security News email about Microsoft Calling. Today, my house was called twice asking us to let them (stating that they were from NIS - funny, eh?) look at my computer and that the Event Log had something bad in it that had to be deleted. I was informed that my ISP had asked them to call me about a bad email, as well.
After stringing him along for a while (trying to get more information), I explained that I would not allow them access to my computer. He then said that he was from the government of Canada and that he could not give out his phone number because all of the government's numbers were classified!
Needless to say, he hung up on me. Just a few minutes ago they called us back, addressing me by my last name (this time), and my husband hung up on them. While I have received a number of ridiculous scam/spam emails, these two phone calls were a new form of brazen, to me. Fun, right? Keep up the great work. I love reading Sunbelt Security News. - CH
