Air machine freeze ups

I have a JE Adams air machine that has had some issues freezing up. The compressor runs but puts out no pressure. I know that the problem is water in the hose between the compressor and the nozzle so I put on a 1/4" water seperator but it has not helped at all.
I'm really getting sick of putting the out of order sign up when it gets too cold.
BTW: I have another air machine (circa 1988) that is set up similar but does not have any issues with freezing. The only difference in the machines is that the old one has the hose on two retractors so that it hangs off the wall in two long loops and the new one has an auto retract hose reel.

A couple oif solutions.

Our air machines have chucks that don't hold air in the hose. These seem to help. You can instal air line oilers with glycol. There are also signs to instruct motorists to put the end of the hose in the exhaust pipe of a running car to thatw the tip in freezing weather.

I talked to tech support at JE Adams this afternoon. They were very helpful and suggested a few things to check.

thanks, Earl. I like the idea of adding an oiler for glycol. I might go ahead and do that if I cannot find any other problems.

What did JE Adams suggest?

If you go the glycol route mak sure the oiler bowl is compatible.

He told me to start by putting a plug into the relief valve port to see if it would build pressure. Then replace the the relief valve and plug the hose outlet to see if any pressure would come from the relief valve.
I couldn't get any air out of it so he told me I needed to rebuild the compressor. He recommended a "cold weather" rebuild kit because of our freezing temps here in NE. I found one from Kleen-Rite for $112. Installed it today and all is working fine.
