We have an Airlift XRS door opener on a poly carbonate entrance door for one of our Petits. Occasionally the door will only open roughly two feet. It has also stopped at this same spot when closing, however, it is much more likely to happen when opening. I'm not positive but I think it has something to do with one of the relays in the control box. If anyone is familiar with the issue please let me know. The frequency of the issue seems to be increasing. It's very intermittent but still too often.

I can say it has nothing to do with the motor/gearbox as it runs fine as soon as you hit the up or down buttons. I'm sure it could be limit related but I don't think it is that either.

Thanks

The relays only send either an open or close signal, so unlikely to be those. Does your have a stop button? Maybe that is getting triggered somehow. On ours if the limits are off, it will stop at that position every time whether you push the button or the machine is telling it to open/close.

It does have a stop button.

Unless the door f’s up…it will open and close to the correct spots (limit set points). If the down limit somehow was coming on, it shouldn’t allow me to send the door down any further but it does so the down limit must not be on.

Oops…must have hit post. Wasn’t done yet.

I think maybe you’re onto something with the stop button. We were too busy today for me to even open the box.

I looked quickly at the manual and there are five relays plus two timer/reversing relays. Trying to follow the logic of the relays confuses me a bit. Yes there is an open and close input to the drive but there are also some lock out relays that essential prevent an up or down input making it to the drive when the said inputs limit is on as well as making sure a down signal never overrides an up signal. Something like that.

There is an issue with some relays on the door controllers. I called AL because We were having a similar issue but their tech support want me to call when the issue is present.

These are brand new doors, I think someone else waa having this problem and AL sent them a resistor.

Please update if you have a better response.

Petit and Airlift use a similar banner photo eyes. I would make sure you have both receivers on one side. Both transmitters on the other. I have seen signals reflected off the Petit dryer photo eye transmitter make their way to a door receiver. This can cause similar issues to what you are describing.
