Algae in Spotfree Tank

Easy Clean

4+1 Owner/Operator
I removed the cap from the top of one of my 300gal spotfree tanks yesterday, looked inside, and noticed there was a good bit of algae on the sides of the tank, mainly above the water level.

Do I need to drain and clean the tank, or is this normal?

Algae in your spotfree tank is definetely not normal. Is there a light above the tank? if so that could be part of the problem
I would clean the lines with a little bleach and maybe add a little to the tank,or turn off the unit to allow it to drain and attempt to clean the sides

We had a second spot free tank on the roof of one of our washes that was the main tank filled by the ro unit. It fed a second tank in the equipment room. Did it that way because equip room was to small for a larger tank...worked well until one day we noticed we were not getting spot free in the lower tank very quickly...checked the tank on the room and it was so full of alge we had to get swimming pool nets to scoop it all out...drain the rest...then chlorinate it....once we got it clean we painted the entire tank black and have not had an algae problem since. Oh yeah....the funny part was my partner scooped all this algae into a trashcan and when he had it full he pulled it to the end of the building and was going to dump it over the side of the roof....it did not go out far enough and he dumped it all on a customer that was using that bay....talk about one mad customer.....I think he still washes for free at our wash to this day.

to prevent and maintain the algae growth you will need to do a recirculation system with an addition of an ozone system. the system should be schedule to go one once a month for a few hours ( this determined by size of your tank and the production rate of your ozone system). this technique has worked for me and hope that will be your answer
