For the past 7 years I have been using a ARO 1/2" 666053-3EB , Polypropylene, Santoprene, Santoprene diaphragm pump on the Tire Cleaner. I use a 3 way NC solenoid on the air inlet so when the pump is turned off it releases the air pressure to the pump. Also use a combo condensate and pressure regulator on the air line. Solenoid first then combo pressure regulator and condensate filter. I bleed the condensate filter every day. When the pump kicks off all you hear is a Pfffffff……releasing any air pressure to the inlet of the the pump. I’ve never had one stall.

Also use the same setup for the pre-soak with a ARO 1/2 666053-333 polypropylene, viton, viton, diaphragm pump with the same setup as above, it has been in service since 1999, although this pump when it is running sounds like…pump…fffffffft….pump….fffffffft , even though it does this it is getting enough liquid to the bays even though it is not working right.

Ok so the first ARO pump I had on the tire cleaner was a Teflon pump, it only lasted about five years, When I ordered the replacement pump (2003), Mike at KR thought I wouldn’t need a Teflon pump but santoprene, this pump has outlasted the Teflon pump and is still working OK, the difference in price is about $103 more for the Teflon, now in there catalog they don’t have the ARO's in viton, only the santoprene for soap, Teflon for the tire, engine cleaner.

I thought that since I used the santoprene for the TC and it lasted longer than the Teflon if I should purchase the Teflon for $103 more, or just stick with the santoprene? I want to replace the TC pump and put that pump (santoprene) on the PS but am not sure if the viton is better for PS that the santoprene will be. Remember they don’t have the ARO viton pump in the catalog.

My question is which polymer is better for which chemical? Teflon or santoprene for the TC and Teflon or santoprene for the PS?

In know everyone will say to use the flojet pumps because they are cheaper, but I like the ARO’s , think they look “cool” and they mount to my pump stands in a professional way. And has anyone had a flojet last for 11 years?

For the number of hours of use, i don't think the flojets last so long. At one wash i have 18yr old Aro's. I think you should buy another one, if thats what you want.

I don't have flo jets for 11 years because it has probably been less than 6 years since I used them to replace all the aeros and Yamada's.

As far as cool mounting for the SS, you can buy and line up the quick disconnect mounts, or do what I do . Use a length of Unistrut type, aluminum or stainless channel, mount that to the stand, remove the rubber grommets / bushings from the Flojet mounting holes and use a 3/8" bolt thru that hole into standard "Strutcatcher" nuts.

I'd use teflon.

I had a dim view of Aros until I bought a wash with the three way solenoid that relives air pressure off the line when the pump is not in use. They work great if set up that way.
