Auto auction

Went to the Mecum Auto Auction at the Reliant Center yesterday. Not to bid on anything but just to see the cars. Hundreds of "awesome" cars were there. Surprisingly tho...the Corvettes and Mercedes went for the lowest prices. Some really fine Corvette and Mercedes all went for well under $20,000. Makes me wish I had registered to bid.If anyone is looking for a deal on some really fine autos, this is the place to go.

I watched the Barret-Jackson auction from Florida yesterday and they had several nice MB 500 Sls go for under 20K. The first day of the big auctions always offers the lowest prices and great buys. Do not need a dealers license only a bank letter of credit up to what ever amount you plan on spending.

No, no dealers license to bid, just a $100.00 bidders registration fee and a line of credit.

Going to car auctions can sometimes net drug dealer vehicles. These that have been seized by law enforcement can be excellent and inexpensive. But what is often not considered is whether such automobiles should be at auction to start with, considering the Eighth Amendment.

I seriously doubt that Mecum or Barret-Jackson is auctioning off vehicles seized from drug dealers.

I went to the Auburn Fall Action over the weekend. That 1930 Dusenburg that went for 1.4 million probably didn't belong to a drug dealer.

Vehicles confiscated by the authorities are sold at government sponsored auctions. Some are kept for government use. The proceeds from the auction then go to the agency that confiscated the vehicle. They are never sold at private or commercial auctions.
