Auto wash income w/gas pumps

I am looking to hook my auto into the gas pumps across the street. I am hearing all kinds of different numbers as far as car count increase. Anywhere from 1 out of every 10 cars, from 1 out of every 5 cars purchasing fuel will by a wash. I am in a rural area outside of Denver next to the major highway going into Denver where 23,000 vehicles pass by a day. The only other competetion is a Safeway 1 mile away with a Ryco wash. Population count with in 10 miles is 100,000. Conoco is presently pumping 45,000 gallons a month. Does anybody know of a formula as far as average car count increase
after tieing into to the gas pumps ? thanks.

I once did an informal, unscientific study about this. What I determined was you will generate $1000.00 for every 8000 gallons pumped. As i said...unscientific and may be subject to change from location to location.

One thing to consider is to avoid the temptation to use reason and back your way into making a bad decision.

Stick with the fundamentals. Is there a market? If so, how potentially large is it?

How many cars does your in-bay currently wash? What is the car count at Safeway? Does Safeway have gas? Are there other washes serving people living in the small hamlets/towns within the 10-mile mark?

Gallon/wash or wash/gas rates vary significantly depending on gasoline sales volumes, price discounting (buy a wash and save money on gas) and other factors.

Most findings suggest gallon/wash rates of 60 to more than 90 gallons. The average is 75 gallons. My data suggests a range of 45 to more than 190.

According to data from National Petroleum News, the typical “bump” in gas volumes from adding carwash is about 8% to 10%. This size increase occurs about 30% to 50% of the time.

Another issue is being across the street. To what extent will this distance (impedance) affect the convenience factor of having carwash and gasoline located on the same site?

How much is it going to cost to tie in? Will the ROI be positive enough to make it worthwhile to everyone involved?

45,000 gallons is not very impressive. I would not touch anything under 100,000 gallons.
