A young girl ran over my 2" Zurn 975XL. I reinstalled it but it now has a slight leak out of the vent on the bottom. The backflow is at least ten years old. I am wondering if I should try a rebuild kit or replace the entire BFP? Thoughts?

I hope you got her information to bill her! I'd take it apart and check for any debris that might be inside, start with check valve #1. If that doesn't work try a repair kit. A new 2" 975XL is around $600.00 plus. When I still working and testing backflow devices I liked working on the 975XL is best.

In the city I'm in they have to be inspected by a licensed backflow tech. I rebuilt mine (the kit was under $100) but it still leaked. If you rebuild it see if you can find a video showing the secrets. New they run around $700 or so.
