I had a couple hubs on my blower wheels crack where the taperlock bushing goes into. I tried to purchase just the hubs but no one would sell them. They wanted to sell a blower wheel with the hub already in it for $900 a piece. Turns out they are a balanced pair and replacing just the hub they worry would throw the wheel out of balance. My solution was to purchase a sprocket that took the same taperlock and put it in a lathe and turn the teeth off and turn the weld down as even as I could get it where the hub was welded on. I tried it at this point and it was a little out of balance. I found a place called Detroit Balancing that I sent the blower wheel to and they balanced it for $100 plus return shipping. The repair seems to work well and runs smooth and in balance. I have done this to a total of 3 blower wheels now and all have turned out well. Just wanted to share my solution in case anyone else is having the same issue. I am in no way affiliated with Detroit Balancing. I just happened to find them on the internet and gave them a try.
