Bad Ideas in New Car Mfg.

#1 on my list; the power windows that go up automatically when you let off the button. This idea is dumb. Safety? Hello?! It makes it a pain in the butt when cleaning the top edge of the window. I understand 'auto down' but not auto up.

On my car, for both the auto up and auto down, for all four windows, the button has two spots, I can just press it lightly and it goes up or down only whil I am holding it, but if I press it all the way it goes all the way up or all the way down automatically. I love this feature.

As you likely know, most luxury cars have the Express Up & Down on all windows & sunroof. I really like this option. On my old Audi, you could reprogram the remote to press one button and all windows and sunroof would close and the doors lock. Great when you have kids that always forget to close the window.

My BMW also has this along with rain sensing wipers. BMW has used the fact that the car can sense rain to apply the brakes ever so slightly to keep the disks dry and so no breaking delay in the rain. I heard in one of the BMW forums that some have programed the car to close all windows and sunroof automatically when it starts raining. Really cool, especially when you are away from the car!

As far as safety goes, express up windows are protected by an anti-pinch system. So safety issue is covered.

Now some cars take it too far and so are a real pain. My wife's car seems like it was programmed by Microsoft. I call it the stupid car. So say you turn off the car in gear and then put it in park. The car does not notice and keeps chiming, you can't lock it or do anything but start the car in gear and then turn it off. I hate that Lexus and all the stupid things it does!
