Do you buy direct from Cummins?

That machine is just a counter....Do you want a counter/sorter? My Cummings machine has a top and bottom hopper that separates by denominations, then you pass the bills thru again to face them all (face side up and back side up), then pass them again to face the same direction (heads pointing up), then count for banding. My bank requires me to band my deposit others may not.

we use a dual stacker cummings, works great, remember the unit needs service make sure service and repair are available. what ever you buy will need to be service as we have learned and when it goes down its a bitch to count $ by hand, fingers get sore

I asked the girls at the bank about their machine. Got the name of the local sales rep and asked for a demo unit, a Cummings Jetscan. Probably could have saved some money by buying online but....been using it for 10+ years with no regrets.
At the very least I would find out what unit the banks in your area use and contact the local guy about servicing whatever unit you choose.

Yep. The cummins jet scan (2 pocket) and the coin counter. Best on the market in my opinion. There's a cummins sales and service office in town, I typically get routine maintenance once a year, always ready the next day.

I have been using a ScanCoin SC1600 for a few months and it has worked very well. I replaced a 6 year old Semacon 1400. The Semacon frequently jammed or faulted during that time which was a pain. ScanCoin has not had those issues. They both cost about the same, $600 apprx.

Just want to be sure. It counts and totals Mixed denominations?

I'm pretty sure they have one that sorts. The one I use is basic. I bought it from KR. Does not sort, I do that manually. If I miss one, the bank notifies me. For $600 I just expect a reliable counter. You can get sorting, counterfeit detection and other features depending on how much you are willing to spend.

Not looking for one that sorts. Just one where I can drop in mixed denominations and it gives me the toal dollar amount as opposed to the total number of notes.

Does this give the total number of notes or the total value for mixed currency?

The bank will accept unsorted mixed denomimnations.

Does it count slower than 1200/min? At slower speed, you can see most of the odd bills. The one thing I did like about the Semacon was that it would count as slow as 600. I think the ScanCoin is 900/min

If it works reliably and lasts 3 years, it's probably a good deal. The Semacon I had previously lasted 7 or 8 years. I think it was about the same price as the ScanCoin I replaced it with. I would get a lot of jams from various faults from the Semacon 1400. It never worked real well. When the machine wouldn't run and I had an error "FE" which was not listed in the manual, I assumed it meant fatal error and I was sick of the machine anyway so decided to try a different manufacturer. In my previous business, I used multiple expensive (Brandt) currency counters for 15 years so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

We checked into the Cummins JetSort Bill Counter with the regional bank service company who are headquartered here in Bis-Man. We were very much interested also because we were very familiar with its ability to transfer to a database without the danger of the counting person mistyping a subtotal &/or total. It basically has the same capability that we like in our Cummins JetSort Coin Counter. We could have possibly lived with the over $3K price tag they wanted but when the sales person insisted that we really should have a yearly service contract to the tune of over $700 per year ... we basically got cold feet. The same company sold us our Cummins JetSort Coin Counter (over 4K initially) & for that they were not suggesting that we need it serviced every year etc. As it turns out they were right ... in over 12 years ... it has only needed very minor in house attention.

We chose to buy the same $200 bill counter about 2 years ago as you have been buying from Sam's Club. What happens when that counter starts to go out? So far any trouble we have had ... we seem to easily correct by blowing air into since the bills leave plenty of dirty residue. Our Sam's Club Counter serves our purpose well for the bills from our 6 self service car wash bays. We tend to use the three compartment bill sorter & remote audit transfer feature with each of our two Standard Bill Changers ... so for those bills sorting & counting is less of an issue.

On the lighter side ... this morning during the bank deposit while I waited & watched while the head teller processed the bills ... she said that the counter (a Cummins JetScan Bill Counter) seemed to have trouble reading the ones towards the end of her count. I blurted out that maybe it had something to do with how the the declaration was changed of the $1 bill's average life from 13 months to 56 months within a year's span ... somewhat AT HER & HER MACHINE'S expense. I was surprised when she actually could not help to chuckle & chuckled even further when I added "there might be a need for some truth serum"!!! I honestly am not making this up.

At post #1 the company had one for $1495, but I was hoping for some one who had used it before gambling on it.
