biometric time clock

I have a time clock to stamp. I have not had the type of fraud mentioned. What I di have the employee would clock in, work for awhile and then leave the location for personal errands on company time.
There are also "credit card" size card systems where the card can be swiped to clock in. They can also be used for security doors so customers are not in company staff only areas.

I dont have a hardware recommendation for you, but I strongly believe that since you already have employees stealing from you (clocking in without being there is theft), no matter what system you put in they will figure out ways around it. I would simply notify everyone of the policy reminding them that any theft is a fireable offense. Put in a video camera. Then fire them. Also note that if they are fired for theft (as opposed to laid off) you dont pay toward unemployment. Wouldnt hurt to remind them of that too.

I have a TimeTrax time clock. The one I have uses the magnetic stripe cards like a credit card. The company makes a lot of different models, definitely one with the biometric functionality. I'm not sure about Iphone connectivity. I've been using this for years and it's great. Easy to use software, no problems.

You couldn't be more right. A thief is a thief. The best thing to do IMO is prove they're stealing and fire them. There are plenty of honest people out there looking for work.

in case an employee would catch a ride with someone & left the vehicle on site.Recently a bunch of us coming out of church on a Sunday morning & a friend was going after his car so as to pick up his wife at the corner of the block at a crosswalk. Another friend's wife was concerned not understanding what they had in mind & she said "Oh no, you won't be able to find Doug" I could not help but burst out & say "Don't worry Doug has a thing a ma jig on his ankle so she knows electronically exactly where he is at all times". Honest to God true story. They (we) all had a good laugh because they knew where I was coming from. Without going into detail Doug was & still is a very prominent person within North Dakota ... & not just from his long term position in the Armed Forces. I just couldn't resist a bit of a follow-up on your post. Doug responded a bit like Doc Ben Carson described in his book "America the Beautiful" that I read about when he first became the new "Black Guy" Doctor-Surgeon.
On a more serious note ... I just took Am Fam Ins up on their agent's offer to install their SafetyValet monitoring device on the OBD in my vehicle based on their promise of up to 30% discount if ongoing results are favorable. Someone told me that other insurance companies are doing something similar (Progressive?). Is only one of these devices allowed at one time on the OBD port?
Does this mean I am in less than good graces with the forum ... because I strayed once again

You can split an odb port.... I have never split one.... Just seen splitters for sale.
You could also accomplish the same tracking goals by providing "company phones" / I'm tracking you phones! Might want to talk to an attorney though? But just get your employees to sign something.... No one reads anything.
I would look into mep1's and paul's advice though.... Usually when you bust someone taking "a pen". They have stolen before and multiple times. This is speaking from experience.... This is also a test you have to pass to have respect with your employees.
