Boom error on Water Wizard 1.0

Negative.....it has been very frustrating. I am waiting for prox cables to come in so that I can replace them, as someone suggested. I just do not think that is it, though. The proxs are just registering the location of the boom. I can make the boom stop mid cycle by blocking either set of eyes, at which time it returns up. But the error on the screen is that the particular sets of eyes that I blocked need to be replaced; not the boom did not come down. Do you know if the motor/gearbox for the boom has an amp sensor that would send it back up if there was resistance on it? Where do you get replacement motors/gear boxes? I just replaced an ocillator motor; the 1/10 hp. That thing was $600 from local distributor---totally absurd. I am going to try to search out some alternate sources. I know those are special somehow, but I may replace with something different that serves the same purpose; even if I need to get a machine shop to make a special adapter to get it to work.

if the boom in the mode to come down and the proxes are to signal where the boom is at this time,if one of them is staying on or shorting out by a wire and the computer thinks it still has not moved then it should give the error of boom did not come down and stop the wash cycle.
to me I would have to eliminate the boom proxes not working first before going any where else, just because they work by manually working them does not mean they are not at fault when going thru a wash cycle
if the boom did not move then I would think that it was not the proxes but problem with the boom drive system. but I think you told us it would come down part way and then go back up and fault out
These things can really get your goat and every thing else, so let us know when you get it solved so we will have some more experience and knowledge of this kind.

robtl....Thanks for all your thoughts. (a silly thing; I just realized this thread should have been down on the JC section--oh, well) I may have stumbled upon something. I was able to duplicate the error in the test mode at the machine (with toggle up). It looks like it may be the settings on the Danfoss VFD. I have no idea what any of these should be set at. There was not a spec sheet in the manual that was left to me. I was able to retrieve the last 3 errors; they were all over-voltage. I made an adjustment to the frequency from 60.0 to 55.0. So far there has not been the error; about a week now. Does this seem right? Do you have the recommended settings for each VFD; maybe you could send me? This is my only machine with VFDs, so it is unfamiliar territory. Thanks again for the help.

I dont have all the settings for the danfoss, what I have done is call Coleman co and get the tech to go thru the settings with me on the phone.
If you could get them to fax you the settings would be great, but I dont think they will do that, you probably have to let then lead you thru the settings over the phone....
If all fails I can get the setting from a friend that has most of them.

All right guys, it looks like it was something in the motor. I replaced it, and the problem has ceased. I would get it pulled apart, but with a new one less than $200, it really is not worth it. I wish I had done that first versus replacing proxs and eyes. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I am now pretty well educated on the subject when something happens next time.
