Does anyone have experience/observations about Buff N Shine added to EE Tunnel? Customer response? Pricing for the extra feature? ROI? Is the additional expense worth the investment? Observations regarding maintenance and reliability?
Thanks!

Are you referring to a Broadway Buff n Shine machine, installed off line from your tunnel?

“Does anyone have experience/observations about Buff N Shine added to EE Tunnel”

BNS units are typically found at new car dealerships (i.e. Broadway’s Auto Butler program) or full-service carwashes to supplement express detail program.

“Customer response?”

When living in Atlanta for two years, I was a BNS customer at Arnett’s carwash.

My opinion of BNS quality is its better than express hand wax but not as good as hand-held machine polisher.

“Pricing for the extra feature?”

There are two products each is one step: polish/wax or polish/sealant.

Depending on marketing conditions, I would price $20 to $25 and $40, respectively.

“ROI?”

Return depends on operator – requires commitment to program and “marketing.”

“Is the additional expense worth the investment?”

This depends on operator for the same reasons as above.

“Observations regarding maintenance and reliability?”

Least of worries because there is no water involved.

I was looking at the Sonny's Buff N Shine. The Motor City Dry N Shine appears to be similar also. Thanks!

Oh, I thought he was referring to a real vehicle polishing system.

BS tunnel units help dry but “buffing” claim is dubious, in my opinion.

I’ve seen “no” benefit from having used one.

On other hand, I spend $4 or $3 for hot wax or rain repellant because they work.

It’s been trendy for operators to buy the unit though.

If you are looking minimize water spotting without utilizing manual labor, like toweling at the exit, use a spot free rinse system.

With a B/S unit, you are looking at the cost and maintenance of three more spinning brushes in your wash. Aside from the reduction of some residual water spots, I cannot see that these add a substantial value to the product. With a quality SFR system, the car may roll off the line with some droplets, but they will disappear.

I understand the vehicle is theoretically clean by the time it reaches the B/S, but anything that might be left over gets wiped by a dry cloth - not good for paint or the cloth. You don't have the luxury of cleaning the cloth on these after every car, as you can with hand toweling.

As Bob said, the buffing/shining claim is pretty much bogus without some type of polish/wax product applied as well, so all this is doing is increasing your drying capabilities. I would put my efforts on good chemistry, SFR and an appropriate blower configuration.

Thanks Bob. Appreciate your input on this. Think I will pass on the B/S unit.
