A guy I know has a wash in another town and said he would sell me his old vacuums. He said they are 14 years old and are combo vacs. I don't know the brand and I have not seen them. He wants $250.00 apiece for them. What are your thoughts on rehabbing vacuums that old and would it be possible or feasible? I need one more combo vac for my wash. Thanks

Even if the company that made them is out of business, you can still rehab them. Almost nothing that makes them work is proprietary. If you can't get the labels, you can have them custom-made. As long as all the stainless is there and undamaged, you can make them work again.

As MEP says cosmetics is the key. Banged up stainless - Hard to make look good. Any other stainless can usualy be made to look great with cleaning, and new decals. Plasic tops can look great with sparay paint made for plastic. (If they are lighted, the light won't shine thru the paint)
Make sure you are up to te job. Components are plug and play but if it's an obsolete model and you need a new wiring harness it's more involved. Aslo be aware that costs can ad up. Roughly - Combo Timer $4-500, Vac Motors $50.00 a piece, Shampoo or AF Hose $150.00, Compressor $250.00 (Have not bought one in a while) Solenoid Valves $30.00 each, + Push buttons and toggle switches, locks, Coin Mech ($150.00)
