Last week we had a call from the police, there had been a problem at our wash. First report said someone hit the vac, next report the police got was that there was a bomb in the vacuum. The video shows what happened. The vac hose still had gasoline running out of it when we got there. The police in our town do a exceptional job and were there within seconds. Not soon enough to catch him though. It wasn't an intentional act so there will be no charges filed. Neighbors told us that the explosion shook their houses. The vac was totaled, the door blew open and bent, the motor plate bent, one motor pushed up out of its place and the bags burned up. All in all we the best thing is that the guy didn't get hurt. I imagine he won't do that again.

cdreed06,

Thanks for the heads up & actual clear evidence video. We had a "know it all" whippersnapper who drove up to our laundromat in a fancy brand new "dually" pickup about a year ago with some clothes that he had spilled gasoline on. Long story short we were lucky enough to have had all the doors open with air moving well which probably helped. The fumes were strong enough to alert us. The jackass came back to retrieve his clothes & argued that there was no danger ... wanting to put the clothes in one of our natural gas dryers. Believe me ... he was firmly escorted out ... not letting him get his way. He was warned that he would have the police in his face real soon if he did not want to listen to reason.

I had a guy actually bucket washing his truck with gasoline! He told me his buddy said it worked really well!? I threw him out and invited him to never come back!

I have always known that gasoline vapors were very volatile but this really showed me just how much power they have. We are lucky he didn't get hurt because I am sure some lawyer would have found a way to blame us....

When I worked for a distributor I repaired a vacuum that had been blown up by gasoline vapor. It somehow blew the coin door off which hit the customer. He did try to sue the owner, even though it was his own stupidity.
