Carpet shampooer watery.

My have a IVS combo Carpet Wizard. It has been working fine. The foam coming out of the shampoo head was almost like shaving cream. Now all of a sudden it is really watery. I have chemicals, I have air coming out of the shampoo head. The hose and shampoo head is also only about 6 months old. Thoughts?

If it's anything like the Fragramatics, there's a little sponge pellet in the shampooer head to make it foam, and the sponge disintegrates over time. I use a gasket punch and a discarded Armor All sponge to make a new one.

IIRC, we bought an IVS shampoo/vac combo about 6 or 7 years ago. And there were quite a few improvements that IVS made to the machines after we purchased it. The first and most obvious was the pump, after our initial pump failed relatively quickly, we were told that they had switched to a new kind of pump, and were given a new pump free of charge. Along with this new pump we were also given a newer type of sponge they were putting in the heads of them. Our current sponge has now been in for 6 years or so and still works just as good as the day it was put in.

May be something work checking into.

It blew the sponge right out the end of the tube. Are you punching a hole in the middle of it?

I don't know how their shampoo head differs from Fragramatics. Theirs has a screen that holds the foam pellet in. Did you disassemble the head or just poke a piece of sponge in the hole?
