I've had the pleasure/misfortune of dealing with this company out of Canada. Hamilton uses them sometimes, and you might be tempted to use them. They make a locking bill stacker, so you can have an attendent service the machine, but not get at the bills. When we updated one for the new %s it died on us. In talking to Hamilton, they said, wow, that's the third call I've got like that today. You can not get a human on the phone up there. A local company that has worked on these for years said forget about fast or even reasonable service. They get back to you when they feel like it. While some of you out there in the ether may consider this bashing, I feel it's good business to let others know about it. When you consistently fail to provide good service for years, it's time to close the door and lock it.

I don?t understand why operators buy and distributors sell these cheap, odd ball validators for a piece of equipment that is very important to there operation. Thanks Mac for the heads up.

This was an odd sale. I sold it. But Hamilton had talked to him and came up with this acceptor in their Pay and Display machine for parking lots. It's basically just like the main ACW . They referred the sale to my company. (That is one of the reasons I like them.) Well it gets better. We have just gone through our second download and one trip back to a Cash Code repair facility. It is still screwed up. Turns out that Cash Code has two flavors, or versions, of the download, one which only works in the Hamilton machines. Twice we have been tricked. Again, bad company Cash Code.

The next time someone tells you about the obscene profits that a distributor makes, refer them to this post. Between myself and one of my techs, we spent about three hours on the phone last Thursday trying to get this resolved. No one, repeat NO ONE, knows what the frigging blazes is susposed to go into this thing. Every time we would call Cash Code, or their factory authorized service center, we got a different answer. Same thing from Hamilton, which really disappointed me. So late Thursday Hamilton says, "we will send you a new Cash Code acceptor that is programmed for the new 5s." So it goes out Fri for Sat delivery. This guy has not been able to take bills for 10 days now. So I pay my tech overtime to go there on Sat to install the new unit. It don't work. Calls to Hamilton tech support only lead to, "Well ,you'll just have to send it back, or to a local Cash Code service center." I am out about a grand in unbillable time. Hamilton says it's not their fault. The service center just says send it back. Cash Code really doesn't give a flying fig about the whole thing. So Monday we will make another round of calls. This all started because we wanted to upgrade the unit for the new 5s.

Most successful people have learned that it is easier to earn a million dollars than it is to win it. Getting rich is never easy. And instant success usually takes about 20 years if you are good. In my case a little longer.

Well this just continues to get better. After taking another fresh Cas Code from Hamilton to the site, at least this one works, BUT, it still does not take the new 5s! After several call back to Hamilton, it appears that the Cash Code validators can not be programmed to accept the new bills. Does anyone out there know if this is true? If you have been able to accept them, please tell how you did it. It's been two weeks now and untold hours into this, to get where we started.

Mac,

My PDQ Access machines use the Cash Code stackerless validator. They also were not upgradeable and I needed to purchase new ones. There is a post on here that talks about those troubles.

Here is an excerpt:

"My distributor came through and located a company that sells the cash code validators for $279 a piece, versus the $588 that PDQ wanted.

Here is the link: www.billacceptors.us/index.cfm

I ordered and installed them myself. While I wasnt real happy about not being able to upgrade the existing Cash Code validators with a $50 EPROM option, I was relieved that they located this web vendor that could provide them for 50% of the PDQ price."

The only difference between the units I bought and the PDQ ones are an "R" in the PDQ model number. There was a post that these units are not waterproof and my distributor checked with the company and they were told that is not the case.

Good luck! When I spoke with a PDQ rep at the ICA show in Orlando last month he told me that they have gotten away from the Cash Code validators in their new units. from all of the information posted on this site, I can understand why!

It's now apparent that these can't be upgraded. What really bothers me is why in blazes did Cas Code send me two, yew two, chips to do an upgrade? I just wish these people were closer than Canada. I would really like to pay them a visit to thank them for all the assistance they've provided. Scotty, thanks for the link.
