Cat 310 plunger play

How much should the plunger be able to move in and out? About to replace seals, getting water in oil, but also it is a little noisier that the others and noticed the in/out play. Is this normal amount and ok?

I checked one of my spare Cat 310 crankcases and it has no end play on the plungers. I'd have to say you need a new pump or at a minimum a new crankcase.

There should be no detectable play. That may run a while like that, but it will eventually throw a rod. You can probably find a used crankcase.
