Cat310 Pump Pressure Adjustment

Another n00bie question. I would like to adjust the pressure on the output of this CAT pump.

Do I turn the brass on top of the pressure regulator? Do I do this while the pump is running and then watch the pressure on the gauge?

Yes, thats how you adjust pressure. You are basically increasing pressure on the "Spring Washers" inside the regulator that in turn regulates bypass pressure. I like to set pressure by pulling the wand trigger in the bay and then setting pressure with the pump running.

That’s not a Cat 310 pump it looks like a 5CP2120 pump. The procedure for adjusting the pressure is the same, to increase the pressure turn the brass nut clockwise and to lower the pressure turn the nut counter clockwise. When I adjust the pressure, I have my helper hold the handle on the gun full open and then adjust the pressure while the gun is full on. No helper, tie the gun handle back secure the gun so it doesn’t fly around and adjust the regulator.

If im adjusting pressure by my self, i use a squeeze clamp to hold the trigger and a bungee to hold the wand in the holder if you feel like it will blow out.

1100 psi is where im usually at.

1500 psi with a 1505 nozzle tip. I use a tennis ball to keep the gun handle open.

1200psi on a Cat 310 with a 2506 tip. Works much better than the 3205 that was on there before.

If you use a 1505 or 1504 nozzle it'll give your customers the impression that they are getting a lot more pressure because of the narrower spray pattern.

We are 1,100 psi at the pump running 2507 tips.
