Chain Lube Questions

Despite my waterproofing of my new Liftmaster operator, I also want to regularly lube the gears/chain/shaft/bearings inside the box (which comes from factory w.f.o. on both ends, which I cannot understand!).

Do you do this? What chain lube works best for you? Back in my mini bike days PJ1 was the shiznit. T.I.A.
