Changer problem returns!

Last Summer I posted about nutty readings from the Hamilton Hopper.
Goes like this. Changer #3 Counter says like 20,000 quarters went thru since last service. Obviously not possible. This Changer has a non seperating stacker. #s1 & 2 Have Seperating stackers. Swap hopper from 3 to 2 or 1Problem repeats with Changer 3. Bought new harness and installed per suggestion. Problem seemed to go away. (may have recurred sporadicaly. I don't recall now.) But has now returned.

Could the wamrmer weather be the factor?

Can't easily swap controllers because of the non seperating stacker on this one.

Do you keep count the coins that are dispensed by the Hopper against the currency that you take out of the Stacker? By doing this you’ll know right away that your Hopper is over or under paying. Your problem is likely to be with the Controller if the problem stays with the changer after you move the Hopper to another Changer. If the problem went with the Hopper I’d have to say the Payout switch or the motor brake assembly would be the problem. I keep a running total of the number on the Hopper meter and count the coins that I put back into the Hopper against the currency that is in the Stacker. They should be right on or very close, if they aren’t then I know I’ve got a problem with something. The Dual separating Stacker has nothing to do with the pay out of the changer. Changing the C-2000 controller from one changer to the other is very simple, there are a series of switches in the back of the C-2000 controller that you have to change if you’re going to use the C-2000 controller with a Dual separating Stacker. How long ago was this Hopper serviced? 20,000 coins dispensed from a Hopper aren’t very many.

Yes, that is the issue. I know that a hopper holds $1200.00 max. So, there is no way it can dispense 20,000 quarters between adding them / removing cash. Up until a week ago it was right on +/- a quarter or 2 . Meter said 2000 quarters and changer had $500.00 in bills. It was not a reading of 20,000 quarters since install, it was 20,000 in a week, which as I said is not possible without refilling a few times.

It's not the hopper since the problem stays with th changer if any of 3 hoppers is used. After changing the harness I am guessing it must be the controller, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

If the problem stays with the changer the simplest thing to do would be to try swapping out controllers. Yes I’ve seen this problem before, usually it’s in the Hopper payout switch or the coin counter on the Hopper. How many times has this happened since you replaced the harness last year?

Yes, Hoppe rpayout switch would be a normal culprit. But this is obviously not the case since swapping an entire hopper only means it happens with the substitute hopper.

I typiclay audit the cahngers weekly. It happened a few times after the harness replacement and then stopped as suddenly as it started perhaps appearing occasionaly. Now it reappeared, and the only thing I can think of is it stopped with cooler / colder weather and started with the warm days we had.
