changer problem

have hamiliton er 60 changers with mars validators, found changer down this evening. validator not showing any power and controller flashing. after several attempts and reboot the validator would never activate or show power. i then replaced with new mars validator we keep as backup. validator powered up fine, controller reset with no error codes. inserted 1 and 5 dollar bills, validator accepted but no hopper output. did not even try to output token. funny things is no error code was demonstrated on controller and changer will continue to accept money without dispensing token. never had this problem.

Did this ER-60 come with Mars validators from Hamilton or was it converted to Mars validators? If it has an aftermarket conversion kit installed the problem is more than likely the cycle inhibit harness. Did you replace the cycle inhibit harness when you replaced the Mars validator?

the mars was not original to the er-60. we converted to mars 6-7 years ago. i am not sure what a cycle inhibit harness is?

The inhibit harness is the adapter harness that plugs into the Mars validator and then plugs into the Hamilton harness. Inside the little beige box is a relay that opens and closes when the Mars validator accepts a bill. When it goes bad the Mars validator will not work right. You should have at least one on hand, they don?t last forever. When you replace the harness be VERY CAREFUL when you plug the new one into the validator. If you plug it in the wrong way the validator WILL smoke when you power it up. If you would like a picture of what the harness looks like e-mail me and I?ll send it to you.

i saw that part and replaced it with new validator. it did not smoke when i tried it so i must have it in correctly. i will see if i have another one i can try and will update post.
