I posted this in the wrong spot. Sorry.

I have an American Changer. The hopper is a Universal Hopper. Last week it started having a problem. Whenever a bill is inserted, and the hopper starts to dispense quarters it sounds as if the motor is turning constantly and makes a loud humming noise. It runs for about a minute and then shuts down the changer. No quarters are dispensed. I have emptied it and refilled it with less quarters a few times and still have the problem. I took it apart thinking it was jambed, but didnt find anything unusual. The belt was intake and on track. The motor and gears were inline and did not "free spin", they do turn but with some effort. The "agitator" is connected and OK. I am at a loss. Any thoughts?

The Money Controls universal hopper is like a Bic lighter, when they don’t work any more toss it and buy a rebuilt one. They can be bought for a round $189 with a $50 rebate.

Randy, where can these be bought rebuilt for that price? I have two American changer and both use coinco's with Money Control hoppers. One has been giving me fits for about a week. Sometimes it takes the bill and won't dispense coins. Other times it will just shut down and the other day when I plugged it back in it started dispensing w/o any bill being inserted (jack potting). Needless to say it is shut down until I figure it out.
