Folks,

I am wondering if anyone has experience swapping the rollers on an LW 4000. I will need to replace mine in the next few months as part of the yearly maintenance. Wondering if any of the guru's out there have some words of wisdom.

Thanks!

Our experience has been that the rollers last much longer than one year. I am aware of the pdq recommendation however.

I use a floor jack with a pole to jack up one end at a time. Be prepared for the old rollers to not release from the shafts. I recommend extra shafts just in case. When you install the new rollers, remember to put antisieze on the inside of the bearings and it will help with changing next time. Also the easiest way to install the bearings is to use an extra shaft through the new roller and beat it into position.

X 2 with the floor jack and a pole. You will need to remove the tire (or remove air) from that side of the bridge drive before you attempt jacking up the bridge. That will make life a lot easier. As PEI said you make have to wrestle with getting the roller assembly off the axle/shafts. I just remove them from the bridge and do the work on the bench. Since you have a 4000, you may not have to deal with bearings because I've been told that a lot of them have a bushing to spindle type W/O bearings.
