Clear Coat Failure - Wet Sanding Range Rover Front Bumper

Hi guys,

I need some assistance on this Range Rover front bumper. There was a spot with clear coat failure from bug guts sitting on it too long. The plan was to wet sand it and re-spray with clear coat. I started with 600 grit but in less than a minute with light pressure I started to see primer I believe?

The 3rd picture is another spot on the bumper that needs to be fixed but I didn't touch it. Just a reference to show what it first looked like.

Any ideas on how to approach this for a spot touch-up? I do not want to re-paint the whole bumper.

1st this is a car wash forum.

2nd I strongly recommend this to be taken to a body shop repair/paint facility, as someone who spent 20+ years in the auto repair business it is pretty apparent to me that this is above your skill set with the pictures and information you provided.

3rd not to be a Debbie Downer, plan to pay to repaint the bumper.

exactly. i will add that 600 grit is too coarse and i'm surprised you didnt make it worse. you shouldn't be attempting these types of repairs. you should refer the customer to a body shop.
