Cloth removal tips or tricks

Recently acquired some used equipment. As I have experienced beofre getting old cloth out of C Channel when it did not have external plastic without damaging the core is very difficult. Any tips or tricks to make it easier. Been blasting with HP and soap.

Cut it off flush with the slots and use a grinder to remove the old cloth left in the slots. Its messy but effective.

I had always done that using a flathead screwdriver and a hammer and knocking it up from the bottom. You are bound to bend the c-channel no matter what you do, just gotta be patient and work it all out.

Tried blasting with lots of HP and cleaner, Spraying WD 40, clamping a vice grips and hit vice grips with hammer heating core with torch to soften plastic, heating plastic directly, cut off flush and use 4 inch grinder with cutting wheel put back of blade against one side of slot and angle so it cuts on angle instead of perpedicular to core. Grinder method by far the fastest and least effort.

When I replaced my neoglide, I cut the cloth strip that holds the plastic so I could grab the plastic with pliers. Once you pull the plastic out you can pull the little cloth piece out. You can also cut both sides of the cloth strip with a razor blade and do it the same way.

The second set I just ordered new hubs. Hubs were much cheaper than labor.
