Cloudy Lexan

The lexan "Window on my Coleman Combos and JE Adams machines have gotten cloudy with age. Anyone make their own replacements?

Do you need some sort of sopecial UV stabilized lexan or will any work?

There is UV stabilized Lexan, but polycarbonate usually yellows from sunlight rather than just turning cloudy. Have you tried polishing what you have now? It could just be fine scratches.

Plastic Cleaner & Polish Works Great

The same thing happens to plastic windows on convertible tops. Simply choose one of many plastic cleaners and plastic polishes (2-step process works best). Repeat the cleaning & polishing process until clean and clear. Similar to headlight lens refinishing.

Essentially, you need to remove the oxidized (dead) plastic outer coating and reveal a fresh new layer. Once you have achieved the desired result, protect the surface with a polymer sealer just like you would do to an auto finish.

Well, it was a little yellowed and cloudy and 25 years old so when I took it out to make a template I hit it with the buffer for the heck of it.
It improved quite a bit but when holding it up and looking thru it the results seemd only OK. I put it back in the machine and was really shocked at how good it looked!
From about a foot away it looked 90+ % improved. Next week I'll try the JE Adams machines.
