Beware of Microsoft phone scam
Consumers in the Pacific northwest and in other countries are receiving phone calls from persons impersonating Microsoft personnel, who say the consumer's computer has a serious problem such as a virus, and tells the consumer to visit a website to download a program that, of course, gives the caller access to the consumer's computer. Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls to fix your computer. Find out more here, and be sure to make your less technically savvy friends and relatives aware of this scam, especially if they live in the targeted areas.
