One of the features of the ShurVend line of vendors is the ability to change the tray columns to sell a different mix of products as new products hit the market place. We have no problems with each operator doing this to maximize the space in the machine. However there are certain procedures that need to be followed and/or reprogrammed so the vendor will operate correctly. These procedures are in the green operator manuals that come with the vendor, but instructions are not easily understood sometimes.

We had a call this past week that had us very confused when we tried to trouble shoot with the present operator. After numerous phone calls back and forth, it finally became obvious that another party had rearranged the mix of products at sometime in the past and had not followed the proper procedures. We finally told the present operator to check all the tray wiring to the motors to make sure it was wired a certain way. That was done, the correct reprogramming was done, and the vendor is now operating correctly.

So some advice for those who want to make some changes in the vendor set-up; go right ahead but please read the operating manual on how to do it or check with us so you will not waste time or be frustrated when the vendor does not work properly after the changes are made. Do what we do many times--after all else fails to work, read the directions!! The software in the computers that run these machines is understood only by the people who write it; not us common people.
