In the process of trying to solve the blow down air pressure backing up into the presoak tank, I discovered a 1/4 plastic tube wth a valve in it running from a T fitting before to a t fitting after the presoak solenoid. there was a check valve on the tire cleaner solenoid which I replaced thinking it was the source of the blow down air.

Can anyone help me out with understanding the reason for the tube/valve?

thanks.

I remember some units having the bypass loop, I don't remember why though.

You know, you can manually run Blowdown by pressing the manual button on the relay in the cabinet. Just press the Blowdown relay and eliminate the possibilities one at a time until the bubbles stop coming up in the tank.

It would seem like the check valve on the pump that I replaced (old one was definately bad), in the tire cleaner line, would keep the air back, unless it is coming in the presoak line there is no check valve on the presoak line (they T off the pump and each have own solenoid valve, pump from same tank but go to different set of nozzels at the machine.) Would they have relied on the solenoid to hold the blow down back pressure? maybe a week solenoid valve. I did notice that liquid is coming out the gantry while the tire clean is on, I am guessing the bypass line is the reason. I will try running it closed to see if that stops. I need more pressure on the tire clean jets as it is.

Yes, the valve on the bypass line needs to be closed or it will come out of the gantry with the tire cleaner on. No, a solenoid won't prevent flow in the wrong direction. There is probably no blowdown on the tire cleaner, and if not there's no reason for a check valve there. Maybe move that one to the presoak line and remove the bypass while you're there.
